♫ We have need of a Java developer who is friendly to the idea of performing volunteer work for open source projects. We need assistance in getting KittyStore operational, as all our current projects (some of which are closed-source) depend on the functionality provided by KittyStore.
What is KittyStore?
KittyStore is a document/content storage API that separates application logic from the content storage logic. KittyStore is fully modular - all content storage is handled by plugins, providing full abstraction for the application using KittyStore. KittyStore can also be (re)configured to allow administrators and/or users to modify the storage backends used without modifying an application or its configuration.
What is needed for KittyStore to work?
- We need the threading I/O subsystem of KittyStore be partially re-implemented to guarantee the transfer of data using java.io.PipedInputStream and java.io.PipedOutputStream.
- The File backend (net.vocasystem.kittystore.backends.KsbFile) needs further examination, development, and testing.
- The Cluster backend (net.vocasystem.kittystore.backends.KsbCluster) needs implementation, but this is not currently a priority.
- JavaDoc still needs to be updated, and in some cases, written.
- Testing, and lots of it. New JUnit/TestNG tests need to be implemented.
- Content to use in testing needs to be implemented, including full templates for the backends.
What are the communication requirements?
Applicants need to be able to communicate with our team using Skype.
What are the development tools used?
Currently, we are using Apache Subversion, Apache Maven, Jenkins (formerly, Hudson), and Mantis BT.
To apply for this position, simply join Varus Online and send a Private Message to me. You must be able to provide examples of your past Open-Source work, such as links to mailing lists, commit logs, and bug tracker items. Not required but beneficial: NetBeans user, vim user, FreeBSD experience, Mac user.
This is a volunteer position, so don't expect to get paid. Your name will, however, be permanently emblazoned on the developers list for KittyStore. ♫♥

The Lords of Varus Offer Wisdom #21 -
Nude Enable:
You can turn the wooden censors on avatars off by using the "Nude Enable" feature. It is located in your Profile, under the Profile tab, Profile Settings panel, » Reading section. There are three settings to choose from. Disable will allow censors, Enable will remove all censors, and Selective will only remove the censors from avatars that are using Nude Enable. Network administrators can turn Nude Enable off regardless of profile settings, by adding '&nude-off' to the end of our avatar URLs in their firewalls.
